July 13, 2024, will go down as one of the most controversial dates in U.S. History. At 6:11 pm, former president and convicted felon Donald Trump was shot. I was on TikTok, watching edits of #JoexBiden, because that was all we could do at the time.
Until Kamala Harris' endorsement, of course.
He was giving a speech in Butler, Pennsylvania, with Republicans holding signs like "Joe Biden, You're Fire!" when the shots went off. I went on with my day, completely unaware. And when I found out, let's just say I was... disappointed, for a lack of better words.
The shooter was on the roof of a building that was close enough to Trump, but just far away enough that it wasn't hoarded with or checked by security.
So Thomas Matthew Crook, a 20 year old young local, took his shot.
... And he missed.
But one of the bullets grazed Trump's right ear. He bent down, Secret Service surrounding him. The crowd was frantic and followed his movements. 1 dead, 2 critically injured. Yet Trump still lived.
I watched him on the big screen as he threw his fist in the air, rallying the crowd. "U.S.A! U.S.A!" They chanted along with him. I admit, it was a clever political move on his part, a critical moment in his candidacy. But what goes up must eventually come down.
I immediately guessed the shooter was a guy, because a girl wouldn't have missed, let alone get killed in the haze of it all. Talk about a job gone wrong. But my condolences to everyone who was there.
But many minorities sighed in relief as the alleged shooter was revealed to be a white Republican.
Now I am aware that this is a controversial piece. But he is a white supremacist, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, religious oppressor, and a convicted felon. Every decision he makes is less about the people and more about himself, power, and money. In the article I wrote about Project 2025, it is clear how he plans to turn our democratic union into a dictatorship. This man is far from a fit president, physically and metaphorically. I mean seriously, he looks pregnant. Maybe he should consider getting an abortion.
Oh wait...
The funny thing is, his "Make America Great Again" hat flew off his practically bald head. There goes another American Dream.
